Sharing this one for fans of the freeway car chases...still highly regarded by the ex-CHP guys I've met...

VERY cool! Thank you for sharing!

Along those lines, vintage film from '71. Remember, no Iphones back then so, film quality is not the greatest.

Yeah, the plate is a nice detail.
And I like the all-black, makes the thing look more sinister for those who know what it is.
I once had the pleasure outside of Bakersfield of running along 70-ish and being passed by one of those like I was parked.
It sounded magnificent.

Unfortunately I entered the academy in’89 and was stuck EVOC training with Diplomats and Caprice’s.
The good news, once we were off of break-in, we received additional training to drive the SSP Mustangs!

That's way cool, I remember those when I was growing up in NorCal. A buddy of mine told me about how he worked at his dad's gas station in Salinas CA around '69 just off Hwy 101. One day he was pumping gas when he heard roaring engines and bawling tires. He looked up just in time to see a Porsche 911 hauling ass down the off-ramp with a CHP Polara right on his back bumper . Guess he tried to run when he got lit up but his glorified VW was no match for the 440 Mag. He gave it up right in front of the gas station, got roughed and cuffed and stuffed in the back of the Polara. My friend talked to the officer a bit while he was waiting for a tow truck and the officer told him that "...it was all I could do to keep from running that damn thing over when we came down the hill!" up

The push bars were the last thing one wanted coming up in the rear view after pulling off a performance stunt. If you out ran them their radios would catch you.
The roar of the air being swallowed under acceleration is unforgettable. I bought a previous home from a retired chp and lived next door to another, both long term employees older than I. I asked both "In your opinion what was the best pursuit car, the same reply, '69 Polara. THey said all the Officers spoke highly of them and hated to see them go when replaced by the Montereys and later Poloras and Coronets.

I bought one of them for $500.00 with a blown up motor from the Indio, CA office in mid spring of 1969 to use as a family car. It had 50212 miles on the odometer when I bought it and it had spun a rod bearing, whiney
Two of the officers there tried to get me to buy another one in their yard that had a broken transmission case with 52,000 miles or so on it for another $300.00, I didn't realcrazy
The reason being is I had already bought a 1965 Fury Two with a 2 barrel 383 motor with a 4 speed in it for $300.00 from a local tow yard, it had been wrecked and totaled, it had 19,000 miles on it.
I wasn't able to buy the other CHP car due to limited funds also shruggy
I did the motor swap, the air conditioner mounting bracket wouldn't fit on the 383 motor and so it didn't have air after that until I found the correct bracket later. I had the car painted grey after getting it running the next month wrench.
We drove it for two years until it caught on fire and was totaled in the spring of 1971 whiney
That car drove nice and road well, dang it for burning up anyways rant
