I have a perfectly good MP dist that the nylon shaft collar broke on. Does anyone know where you can get them? If I had not moved my lathe out of state to my retirement home, I would turn one out of alum round stock. Ehrenberg used to sell them but I see none in his E-Bay store.

Aftermarket kit

It's just a 1/2" nylon collar, pretty generic

Yes get a generic collar which will be tighter radially than the OE collar (unless you want it 100% OE). While you are at it reduce the axial clearance to .005" & speedway mtrs has a kit of flat washers for dirt cheap ($4.99 iirc + the ride).

Give me the dimensions and tolerance you want and I'll turn one out of aluminum for you. You just pay postage if it's more than a couple bux.

Hillman makes nylon collars that are available at Lowes. I've rebuilt quite a few distributors with them and they work perfect. .99 for two last I checked..

Thanks to all who offered help, especially gzig5, what a great offer and I really appreciate it! A friend dug around his parts bin and found one. Thanks much to all!

Great tip! I just went and bought a few of the two packs at Lowes. The only difference was in CA they are $1.54 per pack plus tax. Typical extra charge for just breathing the air here.

They have the roll pins too in a Hillman pack.

Can you post up the part number for the collars? I went looking last night and couldn't find my stash..

I wonder how well they do with the engine temps? I assume the quality is there?

The last one I used has been in the engine for 5700 hard miles and hundreds of dragstrip passes. It has been over 210 a couple of times but never "overheated".

Good to know. A lot of the Hillman stuff was US made but I noticed a move towards China stuff lately.
