Ok...My boys (14 & 12) are swapping a 5.9 Magnum (converted to carb) in place of the old LA 318 in their ‘64 Sweptline. Truck has a a833OD with a special Hyd. Clutch Bellhousing and a 143tooth neutral balance Flywheel (Flywheel only has maybe 30 miles on it).

Here’s where it gets tricky....I was hoping to just add a McLeod magnum bolt on balance weight (I bought the weight awhile back) to my current non-McLeod internally balanced flywheel (will have a machine shop place the holes for the bolts)...anyone have a template for where this weight would go?

2nd choice (due to cost)...is there a 143tooth 5.9 magnum balanced flywheel off the shelf that will work for this application? Anyone know if a stock 5.9 magnum flywheel will work? Not sure what size clutch the stock magnums use...but I have brand new 10.5 and 11 clutch setups I can use in the garage.

In researching...looks like the stock 5.9 magnum trucks used a 12” clutch. So that won’t work...

yeah it might. When I did the clutch on my V8 Dakota (318, same bell and flywheel OD) originally it had a smaller clutch, but when I went to buy my clutch all I could find were 12". bolted right up. they changed them somehow so the bigger clutch would fit the stock flywheel.

I have a copy of a template for drilling the stock flywheels for balance. I think that it is for balancing the more common small block flywheels to the 360. But I have had it so long that I am not sure.

I can find it and post it later if that would help. It is very specific as in a machine shop will need to drill the 3 holes.

Master, again and still

Thanks sniper....that’s an option too...would require me to buy a new clutch setup though....and I’m not positive it would work with my bellhousing (uses a 11” clutch now).
