Does Mopar make a sandwich style pan gasket for the 545rfe like the one for the 518a?

I thought they were just RTV, no gasket.

Parts house filter kit comess with a gasket. The issue is trying to get the pan in place without screwing up the RTV. It's a tight fit on my Grand Cherokee.

Oh yeah, I remember them. That parts house gasket will probably leak though.

No less than 6 choices at Rockauto, none Mopar though.

I have done both the gasket and the RTV. Both sealed up without a single drip.
332,000 miles and several trans filter and fluid services with zero problems.

I really liked the 518 gasket and was hoping for one to fit my trans.

Not real helpful.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear they make the steel reinforced rubber gasket for this trans.

What I like to do is clean the pan real good, use a spray gasket adhesive to glue the gasket to the pan and bolt it up. Alternatively, you can skip the glue and use thread to tie the gasket to the pan, I tie it to each hole and it works pretty good with no glued on gasket mess to clean up next time.

It's old, old school. Even before my time.

I'm really old and this is the first time I've heard of it. I guess I just didn't pay attention. Sure would have made some oil pan replacements a lot easier.

Would still use Mopar sealant like what it came with https://www.ebay.com/p/Mopar-OEM-Tr...eqpau4wIVxlcNCh1JEw5vEAQYAyABEgJERvD_BwE Don't know how that's not helpful?
Also be careful changing the filter, make sure it is in the rubber seal properly. Source of a lot of problems if not seated tight. Don't change the seal it's not required even if they give you one in the kit.

My very personal rule of thought is.
if it came with sealer that's how i put it back together.

If designed for a gasket , same thing . That's how I put it together.

Ive had far far to many pans originally designed for RTV come to me leaking , low and behold they have a gasket on it.

i'm really old as well, and have used thread forever for a lot of things as an "extra hand" as sorts.
on restorations however, use the correct thread "color", so as to not get dinged on judging points. biggrin
