The easy way to find out exactly which ratio gears you have is to jack the car up on jack stands and mark the tire or wheel to the brake backing plates and mark the driveshaft and either the transmission tail shaft housing or the rear end center section so you can count the drive shaft revolutions for one complete tire rotation If the driveshaft goes around almost 3 complete revolutions it has 2.92 ratio for one complete tire rotation, if it goes around 3 1/4 it has 3.23, if 3 1/2 it has 3.55, if 3 3/4 it has 3.73, if almost 4 revoltuions it has 3.91 and if it rotates 4 1/10 it has 4.10 and so on IHTHs

MSD ignitions are nice but if most of your driving is 5500 rpm or less factory dist reworked, a good box and go. As for carb, for mostly street use a 650 AVS Edelbrock will work perfect, have customer 68 RR 440 dynoed at 580 hp, 4sp, 3:55 gears, pulls real nice to 6000 and is good on fuel. 580 w/ a 650 eddy? BULLLLLLLLLL SHEEEEEET maybe 2 of them.

The thing that concerns me is that I've seen in the last five years or so ALL the master rebuild kits come with the low compression pistons no matter what year kit you order. So you have to order pistons from a manufacturer that has different options for CR.

I checked my rear end. It is limited slip, 3.23, has 741 on the case as well as an x. Will this be ok with the 440? Heck yes, I put hundreds of laps on a stock early production 741 Posi unit(clutch type) with 3.91 gears in my 1969 Dart GTS 4 speed car with a 440 motor and 727 that ran low 11.s(11.17 best at 122+ MPH with slicks for hundreds of runs and some street duty. I sold that car in 2002 to a friend after I put a 383 back in it with a 4 speed, he broke the rear U joint the 2nd day he had it doing burn outs and never hurt the rear with a set of BFG 275x60x15 drag radials on the car I bought the car back in 2008 and have driven it for several hundreds mile since then with no issues at all You'll break a "489" case third member before breaking a "741" case with the same ratio and type of posi with the same driver and same driving conditions

At one time I used a mopar electronic distributor on my RB motors and ran it to 7200 without fail, I did use a MSD box though.
