try loosening the side cover just enough so it will move; then see if it will shift. Ya, you might want to remove the cover or at least make sure it has the long locating cover bolt under the lower wire retainer at the rear first. The no shift and fresh burred up lever would make me look, and scare me about the rest of the rebuild, who did it?

All great info! Cant wait to get out the office so I can go try a few things. I found this out at 2AM last night. We are bringing a TA down in under construction condition but still would like this trans at least shifting properly even though it will be rolling and not running..
Next question I have is... I have never built a trans so how hard is it change out that 1-2 shift lever now? Or has anyone welded up the rectangular contact area and reformed it for a tight fit?
Our engine builder did the trans and I already expressed my opinion to him on not letting us know about the lever and how that's not going to fly... He is good but definitely missed the boat on that..
