Messing with an original 68 Satellite. Nothing has been updated, still has points and single field alternator. Anyway, the left turn signal doesn't flash. Both bulbs light, the brake lights work and the right side flashes like it's supposed to. Before I spent too much time testing stuff, I thought I would ask you guys. Where's the best place to start?

Thanks

I recently had the exact same thing on my Cuda and after about a week of it, it fixed itself. I'm sure it will come back and afford me the opportunity to chase the issue down. But from my memory and research there can be several causes. A bad/marginal bulb or socket. Poor ground anywhere in the circuit. The switch in the steering column. The blinker relay. Low blinker fluid.

I'd start by checking each bulb and re-seating them. Don't forget lights in the dash. Then go through the wiring and sockets. I'd rule out everything I could before getting into the steering column. The blinker fluid is an obvious thing to check.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you may have a turn signal switch gone bad. But check all the bulbs and flasher. Flashers can work on one side and not the other because of the resistance difference in the circuit.

the brake lights working tells you that it is OK from the connectors behind the drivers kick panel rearward to the rear dual filament bulbs. start by seperating the steering column pull apart connector & ohm the switch. In the neutral stalk position there should be continuity between the white "power in" wire from the brake pedal switch out to the (2) wires (green/brown maybe) for the L/R brake lights which are the same large filaments in the rear 1157 bulbs that are used for the L/R turns signals respectively which is why from the kickpanel harness rearward you are OK. this is what you have during normal brakeing with the stalk in neutral. then see what you get for continuities when you raise the stalk up then down. www.mymopar.com will have diagrams to help you with the colors to sort out the offending left side. & if all good there you can check the continuity between the body half of that harness pull apart connector down to the pull apart connector behind the drivers kick panel. Holler how it turns out. Always a good idea to pull a batt cable before switching the meter to ohms

Well, it's flashing now and I don't know why.

Changed bulbs, unplugged and plugged the connectors, cleaned every connection I could get to and worked the lever up and down a lot of times. Nothing helped. I gave up, got in it to move out of the way until I had a chance to review what you all had to say and the darned thing started flashing.

I guess I am happy, but I sure would like to know what the issue was.

Thanks for the help guys. If it quits again, I'll be back.
