I have one that is way too big for my app. Is it feasible (price/function) to have it reground & who should I sent it to? Thank you for your time. P4529973

I think Jim at Racer Brown will regrind a good core. You are limited as to how far you can change things though. I'm sure he can tell you how far he can change things before you run into issues.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

If you need a second opinion, give Schneider Racing Cams a call also. They're reasonably priced and seem to do nice work. -Trent Schneider Racing Cams 1235 Cushman Avenue San Diego, CA. 92110 Phone: (619) 297-0227 Fax: (619) 297-0577

Unlikely that you would be able to go smaller. Cam lobe apex is usually ground into the cam at the max allowable size for the cam journal. “Bigger” cams usually have lobe apex heights similar to a small cam. It’s the base circle that is removed to make a cam “ big”.

I dont remember what I paid for the cam but even if it ends up being a bit more (after a regrind) than what another one would cost I would feel better than haveing another part on the shelf that will never be put to use. I'll get some desired specs first.

Is this a solid flat tappet? I’m just thinking out loud here, but seems like with the cost to regrind and the shipping back and forth, you might be ahead by just ordering up a new cam with the specs you want.

Yes it is a solid flat tappet. Agreed, there would be a ($$$) point where it would make sense to get a new one.

I'd say, probably easier to sell it and get what you need instead.
