Your car looks and runs great but how many blocks did you buy and sell before ending up with this combo? Weren’t a couple of them aftermarket blocks too?

I have an Arrow block I got from Josh. He didn't sell it because of differences in blocks that your making up stories about

Bore size and VVT or not are the main interchangability considerations but the SB has plenty of bore sizes crank strokes, main bearing sizes (gen III has 1) , 3 intake bolt patterns for production engines as well as a myriad of aftermarket intake bolt patterns if you get into serious SB heads, again Gen III has one main one and the hellcat.

You forgot pushrod length difference pre09 to 09up. Major finacial meltdown

Oh my how did I forget that? 2 different pushrods, well the SB only had 5 so we got a ways to go to catch them.

I'm no expert on either SB or Gen 3 (I now have both). My 408 has been great. However I thought it was time to embrace some of the new technology, as the GM guys have done with their LS. Why the hate on the G3? It seems like its potential is enormous, and can keep the Mopar banner going on for a long time. But I guess that's just me.

I planned on going gen3 if and when my R1 dies, but, here is the salvage link based on my zip code. Ouch.

Has anyone started and or tracked gen 3 performance with et’s etc?

I think I’ve see a Mopar what did y’all run deal on Moparts but what about an NA listing of cars and performance for NA gen 3’s

I sold one Mopar aluminum block to Ray because I wasn’t going to I use it.

I buy and sell a lot of parts. That’s how I pay for stuff. I built (2) complete engines using the latest aftermarket block from HHP - one for the duster and one for my barracuda. I sold the barracuda engine simply because I bought a hellcat takeout engine for the barracuda as i decided against all the fab work and time required to build another twin turbo - fabricate or custom every part - car that’s I really just want to beat on or if my wife wants to drive it

But I’m not sure why my buying and selling parts would be an indicator on the differences in the parts being hard to understanding. Even for a simpleton

I stick my nose in the Gen 3 area 2-3 times a day because I am curious and like I said before if I wasn’t so old and burning out I would build one. I know there are probably better sites out there for these engines but the guys here are constantly buying selling and buying again. A couple of the guys do have their act together and have great running combos but not many on Moparts. Like I said I’m neck high in old school big block stuff and LA stuff and because guys know I will buy give me a call when they are selling. I had a call this past weekend about a 318 bore sized X block for 1200.00 which I here is a steal so I may grab it.

I get most of my good engines from copart, typically I can buy a durango with a good engine around $500

the ONLY way to buy a late model, computer controlled engine and transmission combo, is to buy the whole vehicle.
keep EVERYTHING until you are SURE you have ALL you need for your purpose[s].
in the meantime, take stock of all the parts that are salvageable you won't be using. sell those off before hauling the carcass off to be scrapped.

My 2010 Challenger previous owner pulled the 383 stroker 5.7 out and I bought the rolling chassis. Air conditioner and a lot of over "modern stuff was pulled out. it was converted to a manual steering rack ,solid rear axle conversion ,gutted interior, power motors for the windows removed, windows are seat belt pulled like the old SS/A darts. car with me in it ( I weigh 225) weighs 3650 the G3 in it now is 408. CI . I'll hit island every now and them on my way home from work (NYC) on a Wednesday night, drive in pass tech and run 10.50s on an average night make a few passes then drive another 30 some odd miles home.

Eagle engine up here is less than 500.00 Can
Hell if the block is junk the heads are worth it alone.
