here's a question for you inland shifter experts.
i can't shift fer sh!t, so i never paid attention in school. however, i have converted several inlands over to hurst units. what puzzles me, is this shifter does not bolt on like the shifters i have changed.
did inland make shifters for the aftermarket ? these pictures were swiped from the interwebs, and the one i have does not have linkage, plus the handle is reversed from the one shown. in other words, the handle is biased to the opposite side of the one shown.
so, what is this thing from ? TIA, and HATS OFF in advance ! bow up

That is a later Inland. They were used on overdrive transmissions in vans. They look like a copy of the Hurst. Chrysler also used Hurst shifters on overdrives in vans (I've got four of those). They look like A-body mechanisms, but have a grease fitting on them.

i still haven't been able to identify this thing, even after several google attempts.
is this a "factory B van item, GM item, aftermarket ? shruggy
there are no part numbers i can find on this thing, which would simplify things immensely.

Yes, everything looks B van to me. I handles were bent funny because the shifter was just about under the driver seat.

thanks jim ! bow are these very common, and are they a better shifter than the early, two top bolt handle, shifters ?
lastly, what does the adapter look like, and would it be remotely possible the adapter is a common item shared with other applications ?
and how easy would i be able to find a set of rods ?

The adapters for the hurst as funky. They raise the shifter up. I may be able to get a pic later. I'm trying to get my transmission together for my Barracuda so I'm inside looking up info. The bolt on handle was always better than the bayonet style, but we have used the bayonet style to bolt the handle on (drilled/tapped handle, drilled mechanism). This may use the standard Hurst adapter, but I'd have to have one in my hands to compare as my son's four speed is on my bench...

Here's the Hurst and bracket. They all came out of 1980s B vans (I've got four of them).
