Can anyone share what the factory heel/foot pad looks like on a 1971 GTX?

Rectangular, or rectangular with a cutout, or ?

A picture would be better yet.

Legendary is telling me what I got is correct but it does not match the carpet I took out of my car, mine is factory original.

When I was restoring my 1971 GTX way back in 1988. I ordered a ACC carpet set from Legendary and it came in with the 70 and earlier retangular heel pad.
I sent it back because the original heel pad that came in the car was the E-body style one. That is the one with the cutout notch in the upper right corner.
My understanding is that the 1971 and later B-bodies had the E-body style heel pads.

I have seen 10 original cars with the E body heel pad. ACCs standard pad is not E body, but they can make one with that pad if you ask. Get a discount code from Year One and specify a E body pad when you order. That is what I did.

Has anyone ever seen a replacement carpet come with diecut cutouts for the console brackets and such?

The carpet in my car has those diecut cutouts and based on what I know about the car and for as long as I have k own it - it’s the original carpet.

My carpet heel pad is rectangular without a cutout. Car was built 6/71.

Another thought - did the 72 get a different heel pad than 71 ?

This was the original carpet to a β€˜71 GTX I owned several years back. They placed one heel pad over another, must have been a defect.

Thanks for the reply - can you take another picture with the pad down on the carpet the way it was when you got the carpet?

If I understand you correctly the top pad was rectangular without a cutout at the top left?

What is the build date of your car?

This is the best picture I could find of the carpet and heel pad. The SPD was C17 and built at the St.Louis plant.

The heel pad on my 71 runner (survivor) is rectangular as well. 12/8/70 scheduled production date, St Louis.

Ok, new information as of today.

Legendary tells me now that the bench seat 4 speed car gets a different heel pad than a console 4 speed car.

Can anyone pipe in on this - BS or does it have merit.

I always thought a four speed with buckets got the "E" body pad and a 4 speed with bench got the rectangle, is this correct??

That would make sense. The E body 4 speed, and B body with buckets and 4 speed used the same floor and rearward mounted shifter hump. The B body with bench seat 4 speed used the forward mounted hump, similar to the 66-70 floor, so they may have carried the earlier carpet and heel pad on. I question how well the 66-70 type carpet would fit though, since the floors were a bit different in shape. Probably not enough to be a problem though.

However, in all my automatic transmission 71-72 B bodies, they have all had the E body type heel pad with the corner notch.

Spoke with Legendary today in fact - going to just go with the notched heel pad based on replies here and from some 71 B Body experts. My guess is it had the wrong carpet installed or they only had this carpet available.

This car appears to be built in late June β€˜71 at St. Louis, trim panels have dates of June 8, looking for other date coded items to narrow it down.

Another anomaly is it has all black seat belts, all matching date codes that have never been removed based on the condition of the anchor bolts. even though the car has blue interior.
