[quote=Kindafast] I've taken apart more than my fair share of engines that had never been touched and almost every one of them had a gasket. Never had a blowout. And yet I find no part number for a gasket and no mention of one in service manuals. Last mention of a gasket between the pump and cap was in the fifties and it was a lathe cut O ring. Don't know what to say. The first engine I pulled apart was mine. I was the second owner. First owner never touched it. It was an early 72 Demon. Has 2.02 valve and 10.5:1 Pistons. And it had a gasket under the pump. That was just the first one.
Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

Only time I find them is when the engine has been in to.

Are you saying the goop built up around the front oil pump bolt on the pump and block and in the machine marks on both parts is not a gasket sealer or "sealing goop" of some type?
