If however they are NOT unilug, then they are damaged beyond use.

Being hub centric, the center hub positions the wheel, not the lugs, so the wheel is not "damaged beyond use" if the correct lugs and washers are used, even if the lug holes were "ovaled" out from improper prior hardware ....

True, I did not consider that.

That's true if the hub is correct and not manufactured larger to be for generic use. Mopar and ford did use the same bolt pattern but the hubs are different sizes.

Correct. IMO their are some things on a vehicle that should not be compromised, Wheel fitment is one of them beer

every aftermarket wheel i have ever seen with a unilug pattern were NOT hubcentric unless you used those rings to make them so. and those rings were not [readily] available until several years ago. as has already been mentioned, the ford, mopar, and GM hubs are all different in diameter, and the "common" hub bore on aftermarket wheels is roughly 3.??? ID. so they fit every possible application.
a real common way to make those wheels look like the ones the OP has, is "losing" the washers, and using the correct lugnuts, or using factory style lugnuts. i saw this ALL the time in my junkyard ownership years [1972-1984 when those wheels were new] there are several ways to simply fix those wheels, but it will require a machine shop [or a good friend that has a bridgeport and knows how to use it].

I worked at Goodyear in the 70’s and some rims only used an offset washer on the front while others had inserts that also went in the back of rims. Here is a set of “don’t kill me” Chevy lugs from a set of Ansen Sprint rims. The inserts are about 5/8 thick and push in the rear of rim. The Chevy were in the center and you would need the other insert which would move them in or out.

Wow just realized these lugs are 45 years old and the chrome is perfect!

I believe these style lugs were Appliance brand wheels.

Doug they were called Ansen sprint 2. I bought the rims new back in high school. The original sprints weren't unilug. But come to think of it maybe Ford were center and Chevy were offset?

Sprint II were unilug only. I just remember round washers that fitted into a front recess.

unless there is more side to side damage than it appears …..

with the proper mag wheel shank lug nuts properly torqued those wheels won't go anywhere

I recently put two sets of slotted mags on two of my cars. The set that I put on my van were made by US mags and they looked like the wheel posted by the OP. They used the standard shank type lugs with standard centered washers. I bought a set of them from Auto Zone, that were made by Dorman, and they are total made in China crap. They were stripping the threads out while I was installing them by hand with a socket and a ratchet. If you need to get a set,buy them from Summit Racing or Jegs, and buy American Racing, Cragar, or Mcguard lugs. How they can sell substandard lug nuts to hold the wheels on your vehicle, with poor metallurgy is beyond me! Anyway, the second set of slotted wheels consisted of a pair from American Racing which also used the standard shank type lugs and standard centered washers, and a pair of Anson slotted wheels that used the oval shaped washers that fit into a machined out recessed area around the lug holes. Those wheels used the oval washers with the offset lug holes that fit into the recessed area of the rim, with standard shank type lug nuts.

Here's an original Ansen sprint I. They're going back on my 67 Jeep Gladiator. Real oddball, 16.5"×8.25". Its amazing what a little Scotchbrite and mineral spirits will do.

Doug those cleaned up great. Here's a picture of the back of the Ansen 2. You can see two of the inserts are installed. Who ever put them in have have at least one backwards. Lol

your picture brought back my old mind from hibernation ! back around the eary, or mid 80's, my brother bought a set of chromed steel slots. it had a ford/chevy pattern where the lugs fit as your picture suggests. once they were tightened, they weren't going anywhere. [provided the holes were not buggered up].
there may have been aluminum wheels like that, but i have never seen any to investigate the hole to lugnut fit.

Tell me about it Lol I believe these rims came with 2 different bushings. A center hole for 4.75 Chevy and a .25 offset that you could use to make them 4.5 Mopar, Ford, or 5" Chevy truck.

Also there was another rim I think ET that had a one piece plastic insert with all the bushings attached like fingers that went in the back. It looked just like 6bblgt's picture. So with those rims there where 3 different inserts since they were one piece.
