Just broke a dove rocker arm shaft, on my B1 headed street car. Broke from user error I was in a hurry to move the car out of shop while waiting on new valve springs and just bolted the shaft on real fast without backing off the adjusters I been using them for years without a problem. Trying to decide on upgrading to t&d or just replace the shaft if koffels even has them anymore.
Is the t&d single shaft worth the effort or just go to the single shaft system?

I like the T&D individual shafts. I bought a new set and picked up a used set just in case they are ever needed. If the car keeps setting in my shop they should last forever. Lol

The T&D paired shafts are the best I've ever used. Hold lash well. Easy to remove and assemble as well.

The single shaft T&D’s will probably have valve spring interference problems with your springs.

Good to know.
Will check the rocker arms later today and see if there is any bad ones might be a deciding factor also.
Anyone know if the pushrods will work going from dove single to the paired t&d?

Everyone I know runs T&D, I run them also. They will fit your application, ball ball or cup ball. Just tell them what you have , such as springs. And they will make to fit.

So different pushrods. Will call t&d to see what they can offer but guessing the length wouldn't be correct either.

This starting to cost some money that will teach me to get in a hurry. Do have a call in to koffels to see what a new shaft for the doves cost.

Is there anything special about the Dove shaft dimension wise?

Kevin

If you are referring to Koffels B-1 Shaft Rockers? I have a set that I will sell. I went to T&D Years ago. I broke a shaft,, well the stud backed out and broke the shaft.. Never replaced the 1 shaft, but everything is still there... Also Scott still sells them..

Just curious, but what kind of work is needed to go with the paired system? and how about the Spray bar system??

Thanks,

Think the t&d paired is just a bolt on system but require pushrod oiling or a spraybar.

I checked last night and looks like a factory rocker shaft is same diameter and hole spacing, only difference is no holes in shaft for spraying the pushrods. Since I have pushrod oilng plus the stock oiling I should be fine with just buying some new heavy duty shafts.
Koffels said they can make some just be a couple weeks.
Thanks for offer but I already have a used spare set but both shafts are tweaked so want to start with perfect straight shafts again.

When we bought our first B1's, immediate and continuous rocker/pushrod problems in a modest performance engine. Bought T&D common shafts and zero problems after that. After that only used T&D's and experienced no problems.

Just to be clear...... the problem the OP is having with the shaft sounds like it was self inflicted rather than a defective, or substandard part.

He’s been running those heads and rockers for years.

Yes it was self inflicted whistling
The heads have been on car for 13 years, Normally I don't take a short cut but every now and then you have to learn a hard lesson
