I have to agree with you on that.
It's not really "competition" when they do basically the same damn thing, right?
One thing I did notice, they've got slightly different shipping discounts going on certain tires.
Ex: Summit wants $10 apiece to ship Nitto NT555R, Jegs ships "free" (included) for the same tire.

I would imagine at this point summit has probably tried to buy jeg's at least once somewhere down the line.

Jeg's customer service was their undoing for me. The last straw was Saturday......I was buying a pair of rims and a thermostat housing........over 600.00 total , but I could not get the discount to kick in. I called customer service and wasted 15 minutes , then went to the instant chat option. Meanwhile , trying the same purchase on Summit's site getting the discount and not hitting buy out of a misplaced sense of loyalty to Jegs. The instant chat went poorly , and when he suggested that I take additional steps to remedy the problem..........conclude the purchase , then email him with a copy of the sale and he would add the discount after the fact........I decided enough. The essence of the customer / vendor relationship is not that I jump through additional hoops to finish a purchase in my world. This is not the first difficulty I have experienced with their customer service , and am still waiting for a set of wheelie bars that I ordered on 4-1. The Jegs brand wheelie bars , which are made by someone else and look suspiciously like the 100 dollar more set they sell by Competition Engineering........the very set customer service tried to steer me into substituting. I have never had a problem for years , and have had several this year alone. And have spent a pretty good chunk of dough with them. So Summit , it is. Losing me won't dim a single light bulb in their empire. But I have a hard time subsidizing poor quality or service.
