Does anyone have a link or the specs for the rotor/gerotor clearances? I thought it was in the archives here but can't find it.

From a 1971 Service Manual, between outer rotor and pump body, more than .014, replace. Between inner and outer rotors, no more than .010.

Robert I'm checking the pump clearances while it's out. The pick up tube broke off in the pump so the pan is off and the pump is out. I think I'll ad a shim to the bypass valve while it's out, this engine is built pretty loose.

Clearance over the rotors - .004" max
Outer rotor to body - .014" max
Tip clearance between rotors - .010" max

These are max numbers for replacement. I would want them to be tighter on anything that matters. You can snug up the clearance over the rotors by facing the body with some fine paper on a smooth, flat surface. .004" is a big gap to be losing oil through.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

I think I would try to snug that up some. Give the cover a few swipes too, just to catch any burrs or high spots.

I've already flat sanded the cover and will do the same to the housing.
