I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 Srt8. It is in limp mode. Will not shift out of first gear and only goes up to 3k. The back story is I installed a Tranzformer box from zautomotive. This thing alows you to change lots of things from shift points and firmness to using the cruise control stick to lock the front brakes for a burnout. All was well, the installation went fine and everything worked, until recently. I had no line lock feature. You check the connection by putting the car in autostick one and pulling back on the cruise control stick to check the connections are good on the can bus wires. Well, no auto stick one and it slams into drive. CEL blinks and the traction control, abs lights are on. I have a diablosport tuner which reads codes. The only one I have seen is p0700. I cleared the code and everything is still wacked out. Where do I start? I removed the box but the t-taps used to make the various connections are still hooked up. I don't want to take it to the dealer. Can anyone help me track down the issue? TIA

If it was mine I would disconnect the battery and let it sit for a while, hoping when I reconnected the battery and started it back up all the computers would restart.

Have you talked to zautomotive?

I disconnected the battery. I have not tried starting the car yet. I want to have my laptop hooked up to the trazformer to see what info I can see.. Zautomotive blames everything on the connections. I hate t-taps so I ordered new connectors to eliminate any wiring connection problems.

Did it happen to go into limp mode after filling the gas tank? Also, have you ever replaced the battery in the key fob?

My '06 r/t went into limp mode the way you are describing. The common causes I saw online were the key fob battery and the fuel tank vent. Mine turned out to be the vent.

Have not filled the car recently. Key fob battery works. I'm hoping that removing the tranzformer solves the problem.as a last resort

You said you already removed the box. I love how people ask for help and then do whatever they were going to do anyway. laugh2

thanks for the constructive feedback. just what I was looking for jackass! This site has become like everything else. A bunch of retards that think they are comedians with mechanical engineering degrees. I thought this was a question and answer forum I asked a question and get wisecracks from a bunch of guys with high school attitudes and intelligence to match. Go rip on somebody else

got mirror?

Anything that uses a tap to connect to your factory wiring ought to have been clue number two for you.

Your probably the kind of genius that cuts the factory connector off the radio harness and uses wire nuts to attach some POS aftermarket radio in too.

I'm not sure how many wires you had to tap into. If it were me I would go to each one of those circuits. Disconnect both ends of each circuit. Check each for continuity, short to another circuit, short to ground. We like to connect power at one end of each circuit and then connect a load to the other end (headlamp bulb works well). If the bulb lights when you run power thru each individual circuit it's ability to carry current is assured. Don't forget to test the harness you removed as well. My bet you'll find your issue. My job is diagnosing prototype car wiring at the Chrysler tech center.
