Put one on my buddies street car, worked ok. no complaints. I remember changing a transfer slot restriction though.

Thanks for the input. Must not be too many guys using them. Looks like a good deal with the Jegs discount. If the description is right it looks to be fully tunable.

Have you thought about talking to Dom (ThumperDart) about a new Dominator?

They are very nice looking too. If it's a race app. I would give it the definite thumbs up. I put it on a 3.54 geared street car. It didn't hesitate a bit Just to fat at cruise.

Last time we spoke, he was pretty much done with the rest of the interweb outside of FB.

I'd be interested in knowing the full calibration, assuming it's a 2-circuit, and how much adjustability remains from the more expensive versions.

You're not going to beat Dom's new billet pieces for quality. He just got some new billet fuel bowls, too.

I lowered the IFR and made transfer slot adjustable .
Just waiting to go back on my 505 , will change PVCR to bigger jet blanks and need to go a little bigger size . Fine on my 440 though I have left it with the 505 tune so a little fat
Oh yeah don't forget it is 5/16"taller than older 4500's

You can contact Dom on facebook"Thumpercarbs". He can sure tune a Dominator for street/strip. Builds some real nice stuff.

as I recall I pulled the transfer-slot restrictions, tapped the body , put in quick fuel .052's and had 13.1-13.2 @ cruise.

They're sweet, but you're not going to get one of those for $800, either.

Brad, I've seen some of the jewelry that you've built. You, of all people, know that you get what you pay for.

You might llke a leaner AFR like from 14.3 to 15.5 AFR at light part throttle cruise than the richer one you have now scope up
I did grin

No argument on that point. However, I've wondered how good a carb I could build on the cheap, too. It doesn't have to look fancy to be effective.

A production type carb can be very cheap since the engineers figured out what all the hole sizes need to be. It is the adjust ability that costs money. I've looked at the Dominator in question and it would probably work just fine as long as your engine is in the sweet spot of what it is designed for. The Holley engineers took out some of the features but it looks like they left most of the adjustments. I'm sure that carb would work just fine on most bracket engines but I doubt you'll see them on any Comp Eliminator cars.

I was helping dyno test a 540 inch BB Ford the other day and one thing we did was try some different Dominator carbs. The carbs were all over the place in terms of power and power curves even if the AFR was all the same. Just totally different flow characteristics. I don't think the average guy has a fighting chance of figuring this stuff out since most folks just can't afford to haul a trunk load of carbs to the dyno and sit there for two days flogging carbs. But I don't know of any other way to see the differences. The best Dominator I've ever seen on the dyno is a 80902 right out of the box. If anyone ever asks me for a Dominator recommendation that is what I tell them to buy. 80902 in whatever color you want. Take it out of the box and bolt it on. Not that it is a huge difference from other carbs but a 80902 will usually make 10 to 20 hp more than any older style Dominator. That may or may not be worth it, just depends on what a person is trying to do with their car.
