We are attempting to build a police package out of a 74 Monaco. The car was originally a 318 car. We have a real K code 440 Fury cop car as a donor to swap into the Monaco. Already we have learned that a Mancini motor mount kit was required as welded brackets on K member are different location. Also had to rewire as distributor is in different location. Before we go further:

Are the small block and big block power steering boxes in the same location? The line sizes are different but bolt holes look the same. Thought I would check here before tearing it open. Thanks

PS If you want a big block car, start with one.

The steering boxes and linkage geometry are the same but the torsion bars will be different. Especially on a cop car the torsion and swap bars should be different.

Only diff related to K member making them diff between BB and SB are the engine mount locations. Otherwise is the same K Member. Rest of related parts simply interchange accordingly to the car setup.

The steering box is the same, and the power steering pump is the same, but the brackets that hold the power steering pump on the motor are different. All the brackets on the front of the motor are different between the small block and the big block. You will need the big block brackets for the power steering pump, alt, and AC.
Exhaust and radiator (depending on which big block water pump housing you have) are different as well. Gene

We have a complete rust bucket donor BB cop motor with the brackets, coolers and radiator. Sounds like it will move right over since we solved the motor mount issue. Thanks
