I think I blow a head gasket on my 440. And was thinking if I pull them 906 heads off, I could upgrade to aluminum heads.
My motor has been together since 2000 and it’s a good running 440 that runs low 12. My question is can I go with aluminum heads with my 6 pack setup , headers and keep it under my shaker hood? And pick up some more horse power! Or should I keep my 906 heads?

Step right up to the aluminum head and never look back. Unless you have a set of KB "quench dome" pistons, that is. The Al head will have better flow, better combustion chamber and weigh less. What's not to like?

Yes,you will be pleased with the upgrade.
Use something with a ""stock"port window.

The Sidewinder/ProMaxx are the best bang for the buck. Give Todd a call at http://www.mopartsracing.com/

There are several suppliers to choose from. Combustion chamber size/Compression ratio for the pistons you have should also be a consideration in your choice. You have 75, 78, 82-84 and 88 cc chambers to choose from.

Just looking at what pistons I have, they are KB237 .30 over and my cam is a CRN 689531 hyd roller with 1.6 rockers. What would be the best CC head? And what would my compression ratio end up at? It run on 93 pump gas now and would like to keep it on pump gas but get as much out of the new heads. If I am remember right I am at 10.2 with the 906 heads.
Thanks for all the help!

running al heads is no big deal. I have built several all ready but my question is what is your combo that you have now that keeps blowing head gaskets. without finding what your problem is you may still have the same problem.

I did the swap on my old pump gas Duster 505 C.I. low deck six pack pump gas motor from a set of ported and polished big valve 906 to a set of CNC ported Eddy RPM, that car picked up a solid two tenths and 3 MPH in the 1/4 with the exact same compression ratio. grin
I change the crank stroke by .050 (4.250 to 4.300)the next winter to go from 9.25 to 1 to 10.29 to 1 compression and that picked up the car some more up
On your deal go with some good heads like the Eddy RPM with the 84.0 CC combustion chambers or the other set with the smaller 75.0 CC chambers, do the math on which heads give you which compression ratio, I wouldn't go above 10.75 to 1 or higher on todays pump gas tsk
IHThs, six packs rock up

I haven't used any of the Trick Flow heads yet so no hands on experience hence no comments on them either way by me twocents
I'm looking forward to building a pump gas 400 stroker motor in the near future with a set of the Trick Flow 270, if the potential customer wants over 650 HP on pump gas luck
If not it will get a set of Trick Flow 240 up
