I just bought a complete TP Tools HVLP setup from a friend. It came with two guns which he used a couple times each to spray a frame and a few other parts on a car he was working on. He's more of a woodworking guy than a car guy and for some reason didn't do a very good job cleaning the guns after using them. Maybe he just didn't realize the importance. Anyhow, is there any good cleaner out there I can let the parts sit in to soften or dissolve the hardened paint? Don't get the wrong impression, there isn't caked on paint on these things, but there is enough residue to want clean them up before I put them into service.

We used to use MEK to clean out the paint guns when I was in the navy.

While it works, it also makes you stupid.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

take them to a body shop & ask if they would run them through their gun washer, it does not take long to do

After posting the question it occured to me that carb cleaner does a hell of a job removing paint. Since I have a gallon of that I'm going to toss the small parts in. Once I get them clean it won't ever be an issue again as I'm pretty diligent at cleaning the guns immediately and thoroughly after use.

When I bought all the gear I got a 5 gallon drum of Axalta gun cleaner but wasn't sure abouts its use so I went to the supplier and told them about my dilemma. They said to saok the parts in this stuff and it would soften and remove the caked on paint. SERIOUSLY ?!?! Yup ! It worked like a charm !!!
