I have customer who needs the Challenger emblem that is on the trunk panel on his 1971 Dodge Challenger, I looked at Classic Industries and they don't offer it.
All help appreciated on who offers them and which ones NOT to buy help

Cab,

This is a nearly impossible part to find.

The problem is Chrysler superseded the part twice.

Originally the emblem was 2965502 which I think was originally from a 69 Dart. It has chrome on the outside of the letters and black in the center.

The replacement is 3811220. It is from a Aspen SE. It has chrome in the center and black outside. It's slightly larger and a different style and font.

Most people do not know what the original looked like so the replacement is what most people think is correct.

If you want a 3811220 I have some of those.

Morty

I remember a few months ago where I saw where someone had photos of the different styles with part numbers posted on Moparts web site. I'm not at home for several more days, so I can't help you with a photo of my original trunk emblem with a ruler for measurements. Hopefully someone else can help there. If not, I'll post mine when I get home. Found it from last August here. Let's see if I can do this.

It's in the last several replies.

Actually it's a compilation of a bunch of photos because one of them is mine.

The original on HPMike's car and the one on Floyd's car are correct.

The differences between the original and the replacement are they inverted, script and size.

Also sometimes people use the part number 3443554 which is totally wrong. That is the part number for the "Dodge" nameplate in the 71 Grill and has three prongs on it. The correct deck lid emblem is the same style.

it appears the tailpanel "Challenger" emblem is the pinned fender emblem with the center pin moved to clear the parting line

But size-wise, the Challenger script emblem is the same size as the fender/70 decklid challenger emblem. Installed, it would be difficult to see a difference between the taped and bolted versions. At least that is what I recall. The 71 Dodge deck lid emblem is the hen's teeth hard-to-get emblem as I recall.

The Challenger Trunk Lid emblem is a hard find either used or new. I remember the guy at Carlisle that sold some of them. I bought a few nos emblems years ago and I also bought something that was very close nos from a vender at the Detroit Show. There is another Vehicle that used this Emblem, not sure if it is a 1971 Dart or a Fury for 1971 or another year. This was about 10 years ago and exact information I would have to do a study on and post and don't have that time. I have all the emblems stored away if I ever do a restoration to my Challenger and that is very unlikely because I like it as a race car and I put on the New DODGE emblem from a Charger or Challenger on my trunk like saving the NOS ones. I believe the 1971 Challenger Dealer Brochure has a nice picture of the truck emblem. Good luck in finding one and when you do I hope you can buy it for a price you or your customer can live with.

Yes I read every post and read the link that also had picture of the Trunk emblem and that is what I was typing about with others that posted about it. The Tail light panel emblem I also have a NOS emblem that I bought back from the Dealer in maybe 1977-8 and that emblem is easy to find used, maybe not so easy to find an NOS. I sold a few tail light panels with it sill in them over the years. I also have seen them at Carlisle that were in repro but never looked at them to give an opinion on how exact they were.

Thanks.

I ended up using an NOS rear finish panel for my car. It was originally a non RT panel that some poorly converted to R/T. I had to redo the whole thing.
