Ok, I talked to a cool sales rep & also a tech at Lunati about the best Voodoo cam for my 71 W100's new 383. The block was decked & forged pistons are .018 above the deck. Stock 440 Source heads (80cc) w/ single springs , headers, Weiand dual plane intake, maybe Holley vacuum 750 or Eddy AFB, big tires (33x12.5x 16.5) and 3.55 gears (soon changed to a 518 w/ 3.91's or 4.10's with OD).. Might tow once in a while open car trailer, etc. The tech says the 703 cam with a 114 Lobe sep is better than the 112 lobe sep 702.

Off the top of my head I’d say it’s too big for what you’re doing with the vehicle....... especially with the bigger heads and bigger valves.

Did you measure the deck clearance and cc a chamber or two?

Haven't measured the deck clearance yet but once we get the rotating assy balanced we'll see what it is. We'll try to CC a chamber or maybe 440 Source can do that for me if I take a head by their shop.
Cam specs said RV or towing, so I figured it'd be better than stock.

33x12x16.5's. Non beadlocked rims, so 16.5 tires are limited & expensive. I may have to switch to 16"rims.

That's a awesome truck man, really cool looking old Dodge! I wouldn't be afraid to run that cam with 4.10 gearing and a big block. You didn't mention where you thought you'd end up with compression, but if it's anywhere near 10 to 1 I think the combination is sound and it should make good torque and mid-range power.

I'd use the Crower HDP271 grind and install it on a 106 ICL.

Cool truck Buzz ! up

thanks & I'd like to change gears if I get the 518 trans installed. 3.91's or 4:10's would be great with an OD & a friend who does 518 conversions has one waiting. 1st cam I had in it 10 yrs ago was way to big & when we changed it a few yrs ago, cam was too small. So I'll do what Dwyane advises & check what the compression will be.

Thanks Ron & hopefully I'll see what the compression will be and check with Dwyane on that cam. I may be selling the truck next summer, so gotta be sure it runs great. I didn't stroke the 383 cause I want the best mpg with some performance.

Love your truck! I wish I never sold my 71. I had a 400 and ran the comp xe268 cam. Made good power and had a nice sound too. Didn't do any towing, just cruising. My engine was 9-1, mildly worked stock heads Holley sd intake and 750 edelbrock carb. Again, awesome truck you have there up

Awesome shortbed Sweptline you had Tony & really sounded good, too. Liked the black dog dish & hubcaps. Your 400 looked like the 70 383 from my Challenger that was in my 71 W100 for yrs & now its in my 68 D100. Hope my new 383 sounds as good as your 400.

Thanks & waiting to get the W100's 383 assembled & the D100 was just painted real Sublime & just waiting to get the bed back on & new tail lights hooked up. Lots of car shows close by coming up soon, so gotta get these both finished.

Dwyane, the forged pistons are .018 above the deck & we didn't CC the 440 Source heads, but if they're close to 80CC
as advertised, what would be a good performance / RV cam? The 383 also has headers & a Weiand dual plane intake.
Thanks again for the advice.
