In 30 years of towing everything from race cars to 4x4 mud trucks I have never had anything move sideways. All my towing is with a open trailer or ramp truck. Maybe a enclosed trailer makes a difference.

2 lbs. total. I weighed mine. I'm a bracket racer, so I'll sacrifice 2 lbs. for a secure car in the trailer.

I had my K frame out of the car and clean when I did the weld so it was easier.

From that location can you criss cross the tie downs without them rubbing? Tie downs should always be crossed to prevent side to side movement.

I have towed thousands of miles, 1200 miles at a time with straight tie downs both front and rear and never had the car move or a strap loosen up. I have seen cars coming into the track pits sideways from a loose cross strap though.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I had my P-body come loose in the enclosed trailer.. a slick went
flat.. the fronts were crossed and the rears were straight... the
right slick went down and the strap went loose and the strap
bounded off.. car bounded to the right and that strap bounced
off.. at least it didnt go forward being it was in park.. I had to redo
both sides of the car.. now I just put a bungy between the 2 rear
straps.. that was the only issue I have had
wave
