We use only the very best speed parts on our builds and no one makes better ball joints than Howe Racing. We service the `Cuda's first set of upper ball joints with some Schaeffer's 238 Ultra Supreme heavy duty grease so they are ready to swap out the current second set at a moments notice. We have a third brand new set for the 73 Challenger build.

Forgot to mention to lube the threads on the cap and housing! Had to go back later and fix that haha!

Watch the full video on our YouTube channel

Enjoy!

Just screw them in.

These Howe ball joints take maintenance. We run them in the circle track cars I used to help with. The lash is set with a 1/2” male socket head from a ratchet, extension, etc. That screwing motion tightens the cup against the ball of the stud. Then there is a set screw to keep the cup from unscrewing itself.

I’d catch them loose every few races. About 100 laps with practice, qualifying, race per race weekend.

Take a paint marker and draw a line across parting line of the cup and body.

These are not an install and forget it part like stock ball joint. Check every 5000 miles, every oil change...

Yes we use these with the Hotchkis arms but I wasn't able to take the Proforged ball joints off by hand as they are to torqued down to 100 ft lbs. We'll mount the Hotchkis arms on the 73 Challenger and replace the ball joints with the Howe pieces.

Do you run a grease seal with those ball joints.

If you look at the instructions from Howe they do offer a boot so that is an option.

We don't like the 22399 boot from Howe because it does not have a metal ring embedded inside it. The rubber boots that come in Moog lower ball joints are the boots that we prefer to use as they keep dirt out and seal better.

Moog doesn't appear to sell the boot separate, though they direct you to https://www.suspension.com/universal-dust-boots.asp for boots.

Down in the question section a question about getting a boot seperately is asked.

https://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/moog-k772

Do you have a source other than buying a ball joint?

thanks

The ball joint here looks like it would probably work?
(WARNING! I have not used this exact dust boot before! So I am NOT 100% sure!)
It has the metal ring that seals the ball joint much better

At $1.99 each its worth a shot!
