Has anyone used a 833 3 speed overdrive behind any real horsepower. Mostly a cruiser, but may occasionally bang through the gears a bit. The overdrive would be great. Do regular Hurst shifters work? TIA

Hi,
with aluminum case I have seen the cluster shaft holes go egg shaped, same shifter, they just flip 3/4 lever upside down so your actually shifting to 4th then overdrive 3rd gear is over drive, 4th is now your third gear, if you follow me?

all parts are sold as is, all parts are considered used no warranties or returns
paypal/check/money order, shipping is from zip 02891, buyer pays paypal fees 24% IRS 1099A plus 3% of part price, check/money order preferred
site is not monitored 24/7 there might be a delay in response

Thought that was the way the shifter worked. I hear of people bushing the aluminum case.

Pretty sure Passon and Brewers both offer the OD with a bushed case and an 18 spline input as options.

I've drag raced Mopar 833 on the street and at the track and had some of them converted to Pro Shift by Nash and Liberty, I will not beat very hard on any stock NP833 O.D., especially in my own cars tsk
I have three of them now, 2 B&E body(van and pickups OEM) and one A body, but I am not and have not driven any of them so far, hopefully this summer in my 1966 Dodge Coronet Deluxe with a 464 C.I. 413 truck based pump gas stroker motor devil
I had to take the A body one apart due to it being at a local powder coaters business with the side cover off whiney The gears inside of the are tiny shruggy

FWIW:
Many years ago I sold one to a guy who said he uses them in his ford truck with a 460.

Had an iron case OD 833 behind a mild (my guess is 450-475 hp) 440 in a '68 Dart. 4.10 geared 8 3/4. It was street driven only. Other than the big RPM drop when shifting to 2nd, the OD had no issues. I was more worried about the 8 3/4 grenading
