I see that K1 tech has a 4.25 stroke G3 crank. I also see several rods with the corresponding 2.00 rod journal...

What I don't see is a shelf piston to make it all work. I admit that I only spent about 15 minutes on google, but I did hit ICON, CP, Diamond and the longest stroke application was 4.05.

Anyone know something that I don't? Custom piston needed. perhaps?

Think it will clear or will the block need a notching? If the block does need clearanced, is that safe with a 5.7 block?

Discuss...

I'll get back to this later , you can use 1.09 ph pistons with 6 in rods, but the throws have to be trimmed. but for the most part pistons are custom ordered, CP and , Dimond both have "programs" for 1.02/1.03 PH pistons. 6.1 C to C rod works best., next option is Nissan's 6.077
.

4.05+ stroke have clearance issues , mostly the last oil drain back on the passenger side of the block, the passage that connects the last 2 drain backs together there is just enough thickness for the notch that is needed for the 4.05 crank the 4.08 gets hairy and 4.20-4.30 there is not enough casting to notch it and not break thru to the passage ,
3, options here, 1st is to block the last drain back at the head, 2nd is to tap off the last one on the outside of the block and route to the oil pan and plug the drain back internally , 3rd is the best solution(in my opinion) is to clearance the passage then tube the passage and dimple it......not to forget the windage tray it also needs some attention for the 4.05+ cranks.

CP has a 4.20 inch crank, less issues......Now if your real adventurous, offset the 4.25 to 4.3 with 1.88 Journal ......... it's like trying to fit 64 Imperial into a 1 car garage.
The 9.25 deck height of the 5.7/6.1s make the 4.20+ cranks a challenge the 9.28 Deck height of the BGE(SRT392) gives you better option.

also keep in mind you can use cometic MLS Head gasket C5876-120 , it's a 4.1 bore .120 thick gasket...yes .120 thick gasket, again this type build is those who think outside of the box and are not looking for 100 runs+ type build. .
look at it this way. Deck Height typical 5.7 is 9.25, add the .120 gasket you have 9.37 "useable DH" . pull off .003 for decking and then .048 for Piston to Head clearance another .006 for rotating assembly oil clearance leaves you 9.313 , 2.125 crank throw +6.125 C to C rod and you have a 1.06 pin height piston.....it's been done both Arrington(before being sold), and Muscle Motors extreme have done it also...not for the faint of heart.

A BGE/SRT392 block with .120 gasket is 9.4 , 4.09 bore with a offset grind 4.3 crank yields 451 CI...keep compression in the mid 10's and the gasket won't blow.....needs to be well tuned also
Custom order Cometic Gasket with a 4.155 bore and .110 thickness you can go 4.125 bore on the BGE block and the 4.3 crank....459(460) ci inches of.. iron block fun.

Wow! Alas, not as easy as I thought. I noticed that upon mock up, my 4.05 crank was tight so this doesn't surprise me.

Humbled, I might save a 4.25 version for my second build and stay "in the box" for this one.

THANK YOU, sir!

I'm gearing up to do some Videos on these G3's Going over the oiling system, some of the different heads I have dissected and few builds one of the builds in the works this year is a 444 CI 6.bassed 4.08X4.25.

Did you ever make these oiling vids?
