360 9-1. I was gonna go with 15 initial + 20 on the slots for the 35 ballpark total for a SB (no vac adv). Should I add more for the upcoming cam breakin? I was thinking someone had priorly mentioned that more for breakin is a good move. Thank you for your time.

I've never worried about it, usually run 36 until tuning time.

Engine break in on a slider cam does not care where the timing is at. As long as it runs. With that said proper is ideal but anything between 5 to 20 during high idle will suffice.

We all know total for power but during breaking, who cares.

I like close to 40. Keeps the exhaust cooler. There is no load so your fine.

I would use as much initial timing as the starter will take, retarded timing makes the motor run hotter. Then adjust the total after breakin.

Set crank at 10 degrees BTDC
with rotor pointing at #1, index the reluctor ring exactly pointing to the pickup.
Fill float bowl(s) with gas
Will start first click of key,
Proceed with break in procedure.

Yes I overthought this as it'll be at ~2500 for the breakin. Thanks guys.

Do this, most important that it starts immediately, then add a little more with a light once it starts, about 35-40.
