I have nothing good to say about that WOMAN down
I saw her put her cigarette out on the passenger side of a Pro Stock car at the 1974 to 1976, (CRS) Winternationals, she was qualified 13Th late on Saturday afternoon (around 4:45 PM) last qualifying session and NHRA shut the lanes down so she didn't get another qualifying run. puke down
She was still with Connie Kallitta but she had showed her true colors on that move runaway
I saw her later at other races and she was not nice to anyone around her when things got a little tough going work
What a witch twocents

Its funny Cab as I have never cared much at all for her either. I thought she had a crappy attitude in an interview I watched of her once and it just turned me off about her. Ron

I was at BIR for a national event , she was in her pit holding her little dog , standing by the ropes.
I came up to her with our five year old daughter , hoping for at least a smile or a hello.
She had the opportunity to become a little girl's hero.
She ignored us completely.
I have not cared for her ever since , and this was 1985 or so.

^^^Yup, they sure did. In the '70s I was doing some work on FC bodies & was around several fab shops & Fuel racers. She was widely disliked among those guys, and that nickname required no translation.
From that time forward and from what I've heard or read since (including her occasional mag columns), she's never made herself particularly likeable.
She's accomplished a lot and was a trailblazer, though.

She always claimed that when she was starting no one would sign for her license because she was a woman. Having talked to some of the guys who raced in that era, it was because she was just a nasty person. If she wouldn't have hooked up with Kalitta she never would have gotten a ride. twocents

When she lived in Michigan, she lived not very far from me I used to run into her at the grocery store once in a while, she would not talk to anyone and she used to always cut in front of people when she was waiting in line. Just a NASTY person.

She may or may not be a terrible human being, I have no idea.

I do have a great deal of respect for historical accomplishments and longevity.

Thanks for the video!

Celebrities should realize that their public persona is just that...public. I saw Ms. Muldowney put on a tantrum that left a lasting impression with me that she had earned the title Thunderc**t.

Saw here once she like said pretty much ignored everyone unless they had a micrphone to have her on TV.now like him or not Force is one of the most approchable guys around,Saw and met him many times.Same with Tony pedrigon.Met him at Norwalk when he was with Force and when he had his own ride.Asked for a pic and he had me come behind the ropes showed me his car etc.very nice There were a few others that were the same.Gary Celcie was pretty much the same way had his crew stand by in the lanes hwile he took pics with fans even though he was getting ready to race.Scoty Cannon the same way.I mean we pay their salarys so no fans no $$$$.Big daddy was pretty nice also.Rocky

I recall back in the '80s Big Daddy wasting her in the finals and in her post race interview she proceeded to trash Garlits on national TV rather than own the fact she got treed and out-driven. That did it for me.

I used to go to the Nats at etown with my dad every year, a lot of other events also. it amazed me how different racers could be from one another.
That goes for regular guys also.

I’ve got a buddy that sells Matco tools and his big boss would get us inside Antron Browns hauler to look around. Antron would walk up to US and start talking to us just like we were one of his friends at a picnic. One of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. He came from humble beginnings and doesn’t mind telling you that. This was always on a Saturday so thing were not as busy. That’s the way they ought to be. If it were for the fans, they’d be nobodies.

To me Shirley has never came across as a person that would be very pleasurable to be around.

I've been to several NHRA events and always tried to get autographs or photos on Saturdays. Sunday is when they earn their living so I never asked unless they were standing at the barricade talking with people.

Funny, I seem to recall Big was one of the few people who signed her license request...no good deed goes unpunished.

Pretty sure Big got talked into it by Connie Kalitta. We know why Connie was on her side. boogie
