Plumbing the fuel system for my street strip car. Using Mallory 140 pump. Looking for under 50 micron fuel filter that is pump gas safe? Motor is only making 400 HP and using 3/8" fuel line.

I use a Mallory canister with cartridge filter before my Mallory 140. Forget what the micron is.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

All the paper fuel filter elements I've heard of are 10 microns, not bigger.
Do not use a fuel filter between the pump and the tank that has smaller than 80 Microns filter in it tsk
I would and do use a 80+ micron filter between the pump and tank to keep the large particles from going through the pump and a good 10 micron high volume paper element between the electric pump and carb or fuel regulator also up scope

I use a napa 24003. Its actually for a gas pump, I thinks its ten micron and flows a bunch of fuel, and its cheap. aluminum housing with pipe thread at each end. two AN fittings and you instal inline. replacement filters are cheap as well.

at 400hp you only need 35gal per flow. I don't know of any 3/8" cellulose that won't do that when put on the pressure side. something like the edelbrock/Russell is 40 micron and cleanable. like Cab said, never put a low micron filter on the suction side of the pump.

I like the RobbMC filters that have the sintered brass elements that can be replaced easily or cleaned in a pinch. I run the 10 micron one due to my EFI but he offers different micron ratings.

Thanks for the info. Never knew that Robb Mc made filters. Using a starter and like the USA small guy manufacturer. I've always filtered my gas prior to filling the cell. Never did the pre-filter. Now its a done deal. Thanks for all the info!
