Don't use Armor all. So many better alternatives like 303 protectant if you think you must coat your vinyl parts with something.

Used it years ago and it destroyed the dash in my car. I was told it hurts the backing underneath the vinyl. I’ve used Vaseline petroleum jelly on my cuda and it has no cracks for 40 years.

I've never heard of using Vaseline, fastmark. I don't want to hijack the Op's thread but curious as well. What about seats?

I don`t use armor all either. I use meguiars or 303 protectant.

I think 303 Protectant is very good I use it on my interior of our cars and on the boat. I still have armor all around the shop. Usually use that on tires or shining up the dirt bike.

Armor All is trash can filler. My choice is Buckeye International 2002 Protectant. Paul

Hmmm. Never gave that any thought. Vinyl is a petroleum product, so it makes good sense (to me, anyway). Just not sure I'd want to sit on it.

I read somewhere that products with petroleum desolates are what attacks rubber.

My brother used a clear boot grease on a vinyl top car years ago and it looked great. Trouble was if it got wet that stuff would run down the glass and you had to work to get it off. Also attracted lots of dust.

Agreed with the Meguiar's #40. Just the right amount of sheen and good protection for the vinyl. I've been using it for years and buy it by the gallon.

I've used a few different products, including ArmorAll, forever. And before that stuff was available, Lemon Pledge.
Never used any of them frequently, maybe every couple months "depending"; never had a bad side effect. If it's petroleum distillates that cause a problem, must be an alcohol-like substance that would permeate & dry the underlayment...but I never had a problem even on vinyl tops in Calif...

Never used Vaseline on seats. I just rubbed it on the dash and then wiped it off after a few days. Seems to work fine. It’s not something you do very often.

Some years back I was in the boat rental business in Florida. Some of my boats that were less than one year old began to show cracks in the vinyl seats. The manufacturer sent a rep out to verify the warranty claim. He took one look and asked me if I was using Armor All on the seats. I told him yes. He told me to stop using it as it damages the vinyl. He suggested STP Son-of-a-Gun. There are a lot of alternatives since those days.

I've been using this stuff for years on the interior. Hard to find lately in the local auto parts stores.

My go-to has been Lemon Pledge for ages, followed by an occasional Meguires. Armor-All, I'm convinced, was created by the Chinese to help sell cheap Chinese replacement vinyl and rubber parts.

A friend of mine used that on non-cracked but hard dashes and baby oil. But not in sunlight. Left it on a long time, it did soften them.

I used it on a black vinyl top on my old 1970 Cuda that sat in the sun most of the time in the Mojave desert, once I started using Armor All on it took less than a year after using it to start cracking, whiney that was in 1975 work
