Any one here have any experience running a winters shifter? I’d like to hear the good/ bad about them. Was looking to buy one, looks similar to my turbo action shifter.

Here we go again. Do a search. This has been fought out a few times already.

BTW...1975 called, they want their Winters Shifter back.

I really like mine, I had them in 3 cars. I think the Winters/ Sidewinders and Turbo-Action use the same mechanism and cable setup.

I like using modern, dummy proof, Winter's 1975 technology, since I'm shifting a 1960's designed transmission attached to a 1958 designed engine....kinda like a rotary dial phone, never drops calls and haven't had a dead battery in one yet.

Maybe we should all update to the new gated Precision Performance ones.....wait, that's right, I just remembered I had a gated shifter, it came factory in my "1970" Cuda. They called it a Slap-stick then.

Ratchet shifters are alright, they do get a little confused if you ask them to make more than one gear change though.

'86 Maple Grove KOS Mopar low qualifier......true street legal with no power adders.

NOS-used when losing since 1940.

Anyone know if the cable comes in from the front or the rear on the transmission? Also Can an air shifter be mounted on on this shifter?

I have a JVX which is a relabeled Winters, mine exits the shifter from the front and enters the transmission from the rear. IIRC there were two rear entry kits, straight in like mine and one that had a bell crank where the cable was perpendicular to the center line of the transmission and used the bell crank and a short rod.

The Winters shifter design is sold by Cheetah, Turbo action, ATI, and of course, Winters. If you go to an NHRA race, most Stockers and Super stockers use a variation of this shifter. Although there are others out there, what shifter is better?

Pick one. PPP, Pro Stick/Quarter Stick, M&M. ATI only has the old Winters for GM 3 speeds and C6 left. Their main one is the new M&M piece.

I've used one, never owned one. Too big, bulky, heavy, clunky and outdated for me. I may be slow, but I've made it into the 21st Century.

As far as 3 speeds in class cars...
