Will a 275/55r17 on a 17x8 rim with 4" backspacing fit up front on my stock height 84 D150? Right now I'm running 15x8 with 3 3/4" backspacing & 275/60r15 only thing I can see is the 17" tire is almost a inch taller and the setup would move 1/4" into the wheel well, any help appreciated thanks

Take a straight edge and measure from the flange of your drum brakes which is your centerline. Measure both sides of the center line to see how much room your have on each side. Now just take the rim back spacing and rim size to see how much room will be on each side for tire clearance. Plus this will help you on if the rim will be centered in the wheel well.

Do you have the physical measurements of the tire mounted on the wheel, or are you basing the differences on the difference in the wheels? A55 series tire is shorter that a 60 series tire, the difference between the two may be less then an inch.
That said, the extra inch and the additional 1/4" away from the mounting surface will probably be more of an issue on the front and rear of the fender clearance when turning, then it will be inside the wheel wheel, unless you are close to something with the current wheels & tires. Gene
