Just attempted to replace the lower drivers side ball joint. Got a replacement online, part number was K783, which is what Classic Industries and the auto parts store say is correct. After breaking the old one free...no fun job..I put the new one in, but the arm that connects to the tie rod end does not have the correct curvature to clear the brake drum. Looking at the original ball joint, its stamped with 22-4002. I could not find this casting/part number anywhere! Any ideas? Do I have a different control arm/ball joint from a different model? Car was supposed to go to a car show on Saturday...now its sitting on jack stands.... Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think I was just sent the wrong part. I compared it to my SuperBee, and its definitely not correct. I am swinging by the auto parts store tomorrow and matching up the correct one...which I should have done in the first place.

It sounds to me like someone put the wrong part in a box, and you were the lucky recipient.
I got a fuel regulator once, the box had the correct number on it, the part even had the correct number on it, but it was the wrong part! I had to send pictures of the part, they did send me the correct part, but it did cost me about a week worth of messing around. That part was boxed wrong at the factory.

Stuff happens. Gene

I sold auto parts for years. You would not believe the crap that gets mislabeled or put in the wrong box. Probably boxed on a Friday or a Monday! People either not paying attention or hung over.

Saw a set of 8 .030 pistons once, all stamped .030 on top of piston. THREE were STANDARD SIZE!!! Machine shop that sold them and bored the engine missed them. "Experienced" mechanic that assembled the engine missed them. (machine shop took the hit and made it right) jess

Yeah, it's hopped up to over 160...

Agreed. Those three standard pistons would've rattled around in the bores like a baseball bat in a garbage can.
