Anyone know if there is a relay or just the switch for the wipers in a '66 Plymouth Fury III? They work with the switch on, but when I try to shut them off, it will intermitteltly make a loud "click" under the dash and the wipers will try to move but only jump about 1/8" and stop. Couldn't see any relays ...

Each wiper switch, two or three speed, has an internal circuit breaker. That is what you are hearing.

An option would be to unplug the wiper motor while still on the firewall and run the wiper motor with jumpers to rule out the switch. See if there is some sort of binding going on with the linkage.

Inside the wiper motor is a parking switch, looks like a set of ignition points. When you turn off the switch on the dash, you will keep power through the parking switch until a cam opens the points and breaks the contacts, so the wipers always stop at the park position. Take your motor apart and check the parking switch to see if its burnt or other wise damaged.

As said take off the arm to see if the noise/interference is inside or (likely) in the linkage. confirm good motor case ground & as said that the one wire is still hot that makes the motor move the linkage to park when you shut the switch "off"

Well I partially disassembled the motor and just cleaned everything out with CRC electronics cleaner. Reassembled and it works fine now. Thanks for the advice!
