Thanks. I figured that was what they came with. I'm gonna have to call CRT or A&A. Going thru an original hemi 727 so I'm gonna need extra frictions and steels along with the wider front band. I can't find a kit specifically for the HD hemi 727. Anyone here rebuilt one of these recently?

Yes I rebuilt one recently, luckily the wide band was fine. Kits usually have 4 discs for each clutch pack. You need an extra friction and steel for the front clutch. I buy from a local parts warehouse so no expensive and tricky geegaws from the performance places.

Might want to try truck or motorhome applications.

Ratroaster, Alabama Band may be able to help you if you run out of other sources.

Thanks Tom. Beings you wrote a book on these, what are your thoughts on installing a Transgo TF-2 in an original '70 Hemi 727 with original internals? Does it need it with the original Hemi internal upgrades? I have never experienced an original hemi 727 so I don't know what to expect. Will it screw things up with the different hemi valve body calibration, 5.0 kickdown lever and governor differences?

Ratroaster, I would not do it now. I have great respect for the HEMI trans and how they did things in it. Maybe tweaking another similar valve body and installing it would be ok but I would not drill the stock one. Too rare of parts if it's all original. I love the way those shifted on the track and the street.
Can you tell if it has the right valve body still? It was also used in a couple of other cars but they are not easy to track down anymore either.
I did several back years ago and wish now i would not have drilled them.

If you go TF-2 I wouldn't modify the hemi valve body, I'd use a donor.

Thanks again Tom! I haven't got inside it yet but i know it has the original yellow paint marking on the heavy input shaft with the machined groove so I don't think it has ever been apart. I think it's all original but who knows if it has all the original guts. I will find out here soon. I discussed this with A&A and he suggested not doing the TF-2 and just turning up the line pressure a couple turns. I question that to because the Hemi governor was altered to affect shifting points also.

Yes, I agree Nanket. I am so used to using the TF-2 that I just assumed I would install it when I went thru the tranny. I'm glad I researched it before doing it.
