Hey guys it’s been a long time since I was active on this site. My Charger project stalled when we decided to move to a house without a shop a few years ago and I had to build a 28x32 shop before I could get back to work on my car. I decided to change the front part of the cage, specifically the windshield and dash bars. I wanted them closer to the windshield and have them go through the dash instead of in front of it. I also had to get the car repainted, the shell was painted about 10 years ago and the guy that did that work did not want to finish the job. Add to that the colour was not exactly what GA4 light gunmetal metallic is, I got a modern colour code and repainted the whole car. Much happier now.

I still have a ton of work to do but I’m the time I wasn’t working on the car I was buying parts as money allowed. I still have a lot of stuff to buy for it, but the parts will come with time.

Anyway here is a recap of the project:

1972 Charger Rallye KOS/heads up race car, mild steel 8.50 cage, Dana, ladder bar, 432 low deck built for spray, Induction Solutions Sledgehammer plate, A&A rollerized 727 with a pro tree brake, LRT k frame.

That’s where we are now. Thanks for looking.

Steve

Nice progress. Now that you’re settled with a place to work, hopefully things will move along. Really doesn’t matter how fast, as long as you’re enjoying the project. 👍

I’ve had this car for the last 25 years and working specifically on it for the last 15 or so. What’s the point in rushing now?

What was the powertrain in your Bee Doug? I saw the article written about your car and the ruckus it cause on YB too.

I have a lot more pics I need to add to imgur. Thanks for the complements guys.

Just a 383. It needed brakes. Bought it for $100 in 1980, sold it a week later for $600.

NICE CAR ! !

If its going to take a long time to get it done, consider selling the engine, get the roller done and get another engine last. The only reason I say this is that technology is constantly updating. Heads, camshaft and nitrous technology grow every year.

Honestly depending on what class you want to run, the engine could be 588 or bigger, so you see where im going...And there are plates that outflow that SLedgehammer. All constructive criticism here, please take it this way. I love the car and im like you, I like to do a lot myself, that always takes longer...

Best of luck ! !

I’m trying hard to make test hits next year (2020), when I originally started on this project I was building it for a pound per cube class hence the 432 cubic inch engine. That class doesn’t exist anymore, but I own the engine and it’s payed for. I’d love to build a bigger bullet but that will come in time. I’m going to run a race up here that has a plate class, again a learning curve I need to take. There isn’t too much up here for organized heads up class racing, just grudge/street outlaws type racing. My main goal and purpose behind this car is Josh’s KOS race.

Thank you for the enthusiasm, I love your car I look forward to seeing it in person.
