for those of you that have a removable top section of the radiator yoke, how do you have the section attached ? in other words, have you just added tabs using just a couple of bolts to re-attach the top, or have you fabbed a new section to replace the one you have cut ? did you reinforce the yoke in any way ?
pics would be helpful if possible. bow
the car in question is my 69 charger, but any body style would be helpful.
TIA !

I'll post a pic tonight. I spot welded on tabs and made a bolted connection. I also sectioned mine and added depth to the OEM piece I removed for added stiffness, and it allowed me to lower the rad while I also moved it back, 2" down and 2" back. up I'm all about lowering COG and weight balance. Rad is full of water in use, right? biggrin

I was slightly concerned because I thought I read somewhere in this area there is a stamped serial number used by authorities(?) to verity authenticity of the chassis, that I might have obliterated. Screw them.

Maybe you see what I did here. The holes are the air inlets to the under hoop air inlet scoop. The gap between the hood and front of the rad air is divided, and feeds these air inlets into the underscoop to the air cleaner.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

thanks ! that is about what i was thinking of. i will be adding a new radiator and an ac condenser , so i will be modifying the yoke anyway. i figured it best to do the removable top at the same time.

Have a look at a B van, they have the removable top piece. Might get some ideas.
