Just picked up a 5.7 out of an 05 jeep and want to do a manual trans that won't require a lot of metal fab. Anyone done a t5? i have one laying around from an old mustang project and see quicktime makes the swap bellhousing. Thanks for your input.

You'll have to mod the trans tunnel brace for the shifter to fit.

I don't think a T5 is strong enough for a 5.7L Hemi, unless you are just driving it around town.
They were the perfect gear ratios for the 225 hp truck engine in the Mustangs but 1st id geared a little low and the rest are a little wide.

What are your intentions for this A body?

autox and track days mainly. I'm doing the 8.8 swap in the rear and i thought going t5 would simplify any driveshaft issues. I've been autoxing a fox mustang for years with a t5 without any issues. The car will never dead hook like a drag car.

I used to destroy new T-5s with BFG Comp TA-s street racing with a 3:73 rear gear, no cats, ect, moved up to the ford motorsport T5 and no more breaky.

If you look I dont think the oem T5 is TQ rated very high.

If I recall correctly it was third or something related to 3rd gear id break, but dont hold me to it.

I also autocrossed this car too with the basic rancho kits out at the time.

stock they are rated to 275FT-LBS-325 depending on year, the S-10 T-5 was good for about 325FT-LBS

3rd is what breaks it's the same deal as the A833's the main shaft spreads away from the Cluster losing teeth engagement.. except the A833 does it at about 200FT-lbs more.

If your dead set on a T-5 https://astroperformance.com/ can build you a 600FT-lbs T-5 for about 3K and http://www.pro-forceperformance.com/ can do 450 FT-lbs for about 2500,

I shredded several T-5s in my mustang that put 300 to the tire and ran 12.30s. It broke 3rd on the cluster normally, but once I quit driving it like I was Ronnie Sox it still broke the input gear on occasion.
