He's kinda stuck either way. Unless he can find a super deal, the heads are going to cost big bucks. He might be better off selling the 383 and the intake, and buying a core 440 and an A&A crossram with regular ports. I've been drag racing Mopars since the early 1960s, I've yet to hear of anyone who bought one of the new A&A 440 port size crossram intakes that like them I've seen a lot of different combination imitating the original short cross ram intakes for the Max Wedge heads, none of them will hold a candle to the original Mopaer manifolds other than a sheet metal Super Stock intake I've owned and race several different max wedge cars and different motor combinations, they where the hot ticket in 1962,1963 and in 1964 until Mopar came out with the 426 race hemi OP, find out +what you really want first and then go from there. if your after the look PM me on here and I may be able to help you find a used M.W. intake with linkage at a decent price, if it is still available
Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I had a customer who wanted the MW look, and already had the manifold, carbs, linkage, etc.
I opened up a set of Stealth heads to MW size......... worked out well.
With the openings at MW size, valve job, and some minor blending they outflowed stock MW heads.
