Just received an e-mail from Jegs , ETA unknown.

Well that's just peachy , a big pile of parts and nothing to attach them to!
I know a lot of you guys have been waiting longer than me, so when it gets here , it gets here. Paul

Could be a canned answer, but this was from FCA on 12/27/18 when asked about the Gen II blocks listed in the 2018 Mopar catalog:

Thank you for contacting FCA US LLC.

According to available information, part numbers P5160149AC, P5160150AC and P5160151AC are in development and are not available for order at this time. You should remain in contact with the parts department at your local dealership for updates.

Sincerely,
Joe

Still “developing” that 55 year old design.

For the street, street/strip, bracket type builds under 800hp....... make it just like the OE blocks with high nickel content iron and thicker bores so it would facilitate a 4.375 bore, add a little meat to the main web area........ done.

KBs seem to be available now. Just pay the slight extra and be happy with a much nicer product.

Only thing that should be in development, is supply base development.

Assuming the new machining facility is doing a good job, and has been awarded all the business (I noticed components in the new ones have changed... main cap fasteners...whatever...It's probably 100% their call)and they can handle the volume of work, they've gotta kick Dalton off again which will probably be difficult after a multiple year hiatus. Wouldn't be surprised if Dalton wanted a price increase, wouldn't come as a shock if the whole thing is hung up awaiting Purchasing activity.

This development needed to happen a few years ago.

Note I'm definitely not making excuses for 'em.

Or maybe not so available. Eventually they supposedly will be "readily" available. Some have been waiting months for the newest batch/version. Some longer than others, looks like everyone will get them at about the same time. So if you jump in now likely the wait will be shorter. HOWEVER they have made some changes that will not be so conducive to what it sounds like most replying here are looking to build.

The Keith Black block is a nice piece , but it does not fit my recipe. The lack of ability to mount a mechanical fuel pump is the ultimate deal breaker. Paul

I'm sure the bosses are still there for the fuel pump. If you had a good machinist he could make it work.

It should be that easy. If we had the technology 50 years ago to build Hemi blocks then it really shouldn't be very difficult to make them today. What it boils down to is that Chrysler just isn't interested in the project. If they wanted to get it done then it would happen. The technology exists, the drawings exist, the supply chain exists. Even a half wit of a project manager could get blocks flowing out the door in a few months if the management team wanted it to happen.....

What it boils down to is Mopar pumps out thousands of G3 hemis per year, and they're barely surviving as is. They don't, and probably will never again, be interested in supporting the sport the way GM performance group does with bowties. Go down to any dealership and try to talk to them about drag racing...should tell you all you need to know about their interest.

Agree that If somebody really cared, they'd be all over it. The tools were bought 10 years ago. It's a bigger waste of money to let the tools sit idle than to start a phone call and/or plant visit campaign and make some sales again.

The product manager responsible for the World block has told me he feels he could get them making blocks again within a matter of months. He's not there anymore otherwise I'm sure he would.

At the time of my departure, performance was run by accessories. This is the root of the error. They make more money on Mudflaps and floor mats, so our old hot rod parts are way down the priority list.

If Chrysler is not interested in casting a old blocks I get that. They are interested in parts that go on cars that they are selling now, that makes total sense to me.

What doesn't make any sense to me is why don't they just sell the Gen II tooling to someone who would want to cast them.

We've been hearing for two years that Blocks will be available any day now... Charlie Brown and the Football.
