My neighbor as a kid had a Mark Donahue Javelin and would smoke the tires just for fun. AMC torque was pretty good back in the day!

I actually considered doing this same swap to my 69 390 4 speed AMX. I posted a thread here on Moparts, stating that I was getting fustrated trying to find a 390 engine for my car,and was considering putting the 5.7 Hemi I had just purchased in the car. A fellow Moparts member offered to sell me a complete running 68 390 engine for my car,so I bought it from him. I will be following your thread to see how things may have been had I gone that route! Cool project!

I had a bud up in meeeechigan some years back that was a die hard AMC fan ! I used to bust his stones by razzing him in a friendly way and he would come back calling his Javelin a JavelFINE !

Neat car ..,interesting project

Well I was going to try and keep factory back seat but just didn't work out . Sticking with just a roll bar since it won't see much track time and didn't want to worry about full cage driving around town.
also rolled the car to clean up the garage a little

Thats bad ass, I love it! Keep up the progress. And you are right about the AMC crowd, they can be some of the most dedicated purists......

(Xs-9513x powermaster) I could not clear an older 5.2 /5.9 mini starter and did not want to try and pull headers off so went this route . made a new (pics show ones that comes with starter)adapter so I could spin the solenoid to clear the header . I did have to remove the 2 big bolt boss on the block but running a 4l80e so no block to trans adapter
