Metro sells their part# VS7-F for all 71-74 B bodies. have had a few people now tell me the metal tab is about 1/2" too short.

See the picture.
Top is an original
Middle a 71-74 E body VS7-M with a longer tab like I'm told the 71-74 B body should have.
Bottom the "too short" VS7-F

Question is, are all these the same on 71-4 B bodies? Should they all have the longer tab. Theres a screw hole and I'm told with the short tab a new screw hole has to be drilled and the original hole in the body is exposed.

Thanks!

I did some digging in the parts books.

Top picture
71 B bodies used a rear qtr window leading edge seal with a long tab. Part# 3581170-1

Bottom picture
72-74 B bodies used a rear qtr window leading edge seal with a short tab. Part# 3582136-7

Metro sells the part with the short tab for all 71-74 B bodies. I'll have to bring this new info I found to their attention and see if we can get correct ones made for 71 B bodies The E body seal looks VERY similar to and has the longer tab like the 71 B body. I'll have to see if that one fits / works on a 72-74 B body.

I bought replacements years ago for my 71 Charger and the tab was too short.

Here's my experience (72SE):

Removed the old seal, the new seal slides in and this little metal tab goes through the whole in the rubber seal. Used some silicone spray as the seal was a very tight fit; which of course you want.

As we know with most repro parts they are usually a little off, the hole that was drilled in the seal was out of place so I had to drill a new whole and it had to be a little more oval for the rubber seal to fit over it.

Finished product, I am very happy with it and glad it was available in the aftermarket, mine have always looked like crap.
