I remember reading here that there was a company that would send you a checking push rod to measure then order from them. I might need to get some new push rods and still haven't made up my mind yet. I made my last set from a kit and they turned out pretty good but some store bought ones would save me a bunch of work. Thanks Gus

Do you need one for a B or RB motor with solid lifter or hydraulics and do you need ball and cup or ball and ball? Last thing w=hat size are the ends you need on each end, 1/4, 5/16 or 3/8?

You can cut an old one in two and thread the cut ends, put a short piece of threaded rod between and a couple jam nuts. Thats what I did, and sent both of them to Smith Brothers. They returned them with the new pushrods. I didnt want to take a chance on my measurements. Nice guys to work with.

Smith Brothers Pushrods is the only place I will get mine. I just ordered a very custom set for a 428 Cobra Jet. Talk to Eric, good guy.

Smith Bros. screwed me once around 8 years ago when they where here in Bend, I have not used them since then and won't again I use Mantons now and will for a long time to come, way better quality and prices also

They always got my orders right so this sounds really odd.

I paid for 3/8x.120 wall ball and cup and when one of them broke in half on the dyno testing, it broke due to a defect in the material I was told by Piere that they where .083 wall, not the .120 wall I ordered and paid him for When the bad one broke at around 5200 RPM on the engine dyno it took out the one beside it and the upper half ended up gouging the cam lobe and lifter bushing after the Crower solid roller lifter was spit out, which cause the link bar to break the top of that set of lifters off They replace the two bad pushrods but did not offer to help fix the cam and replace the pair of broken lifters I ordered a set of Manton .120 wall and put the motor back on the dyno with the Smith Bros. and made three pulls and then switch the pushrods to the Manton set with no other changes, those pushrods made 8 HP more and raised the peak HP RPM by 300 RPM This forum is for all of us to try and help each other, I hope this does that

the hardware store has these thin (5/16?) shafts that are threaded on each end (LH on one end), not sure what they are for, didn't pay attention & from a bent junk pushrod, I cut & JB welded a ball on one end & a threaded shaft with 2 nuts to lock it solid at a particular height into the other. had more range than the tailor made ones (& cheaper) plus the satisfaction of doing it your self.
