Is there a company that still makes a full groove Main Bearing set for a 440 or Hemi mains?
Spent some time with the NAPA parts guy and did not find anything that had full grooves. 3/4 and half grooves is all we could find.
I want to use the full groove set if possible to take advantage of full time oiling to the rod bearings.
Any Mfg or part numbers would be greatly appreciated.

Clevite

Enginetech

The Mancini ones linked are for the early thrust diameter blocks. The ones I linked are for the later, larger diameter thrust.

Small diameter thrust bearing. You can use them in the later blocks but you give up some thrust bearing capacity.

Federal Mogul's 119M is a tri-metal bearing w/ their "3/4 groove" design, although it's more like 5/8 if you ask me. It combines a wide groove like the traditional Hemi main bearings, but maintains more bearing surface area where the loads are the highest.

Only comes in the small-thrust style, but works in either small-thrust of large-thrust applications, plus it's narrowed just enough to work w/ full-radius cranks, too. The one limitation IMO is that it's only available as standard and .010" undersize.

OP didn't state the year of his block.

SuperCuda, Have you had any experience with the Aluminum bearings that Engine Tech refers to?

You are correct John I did not.
I have a 72 and a 73 and a 74 440 block to choose from. I am thinking the 72 is a better block just based on how it has been stored the last 20 years. The other 2 blocks are showing some rust in the cylinder walls.

True, which is why I pointed out the differences, didn't know if he was aware. As I mentioned, you can use the early style in the later blocks, but lose some thrust capacity. Will that matter? Chrysler thought so at the time.

Nope, last time I built an RB I used Clevite 77's and we had to buy two sets to get full main grooves.

Well Riddle me this Brad, or Zippy, or Super Cuda or John. I can not remember for certain. So what year did they go to the larger thrust bearing surface? I wan't to think it was in 72 with the introduction of the 400 block, but again, I am not completely certain.
Thanks again for each and everyone's help in my search.
Merry Christmas Jerry

No need for full groove mains. 6 years with over 500 passes running 1/2 groove. 7200 rpm, 4.5" stroke. Rod bearings always look like new with 1/2 groove.
