Is there a "special factory " torx key that fits into the gap at the back of the subframe and clears the trans pan for removing the front 4 bolts? Or do the dealers drop the subframe?

Found the trans shop I sent it to for a service did not bother to change the filter, and didnt fill it to the correct level.

Level is now correct , but still has the factory fitted filter . I want put a fresh one in.

Sounds like what I experienced on my wife's BMW X5 with the older 6 speed ZF trans. I had to buy a torx bit kit for a cordless drill and hold the bit in while turning it with a 3/8 or so box wrench. It was a PITA. From what I read online the "proper" procedure on the X5 is to drop the rear trans crossmember. This trick saved me a ton of time.

Also, the filter is part of the pan in the older 5 and 6 speed ZF transmissions, don't be surprised if you get a pan when you order the filter. Or if the filter is $$$$$$.

mopar didn't worry about the servicing. It was easier to claim it is lifetime fluid
