Looking for the right color black for rear end and k frame. Is it a gloss black with some flatening agent.

Black is the color.

Sheen / gloss level varies for any color & applications too.

It was gloss black. The sheen varies by the day of the week, weather, who was painting, how they mixed the paint, temperature, gun they used, whether the Lions, Pistons, Tigers lost yesterday, you name it.

At the end of the day it was supposed to be gloss black

I’m trying to this as correctly as I can. It’ll be back from getting blasted tomorrow along with k frame. I assume k frame was done the same.

Want it correct or beautiful? If you want it correct go buy the cheapest gloss black paint money can buy and blast it on without much regard to anything (neatness, conditions, etc.). Ultra cheap gloss paint (think tractor supply) usually dulls back all by itself so no flattening agents required. I would recommend using a catalyzed paint and that you apply with a paint gun as opposed to rattle cans as it will hold up much longer if catalyzed.

thanks guys appreciate your info. I’ve done many cars in the past and my cars have been nice driver type cars with the exception of the 71 hemi Cuda concertible I helped my brother with a few years back. Now I’m going to be doing this as a living. I’ve always done this as a hobbie and have had some really neat cars along the way. These cars are in my blood and I’m really excited about working on theme every day. I’ll be on here and other sites a lot more often now gathering info for this Ta build.

I have found that the SEM Chassis black matches as close as possible. I have usually had the k-frame powder coated since it can get oil and gas ext. on it. Gloss with a slight bit of dullness to it. I also have found that the Eastwood chassis black is more flat like would be on a Chevy.

Eastwood's chassis black comes in satin and gloss. I suspect you are referring to the satin finish as it does appear somewhat flat. The gloss version definitely is not flat.

It also helps if you consume a 1/5 of Vodka before spraying it and dilute the paint and increase the air pressure so you can spray it from two feet away - should get you the right look

Also Macho, in case you were not aware, the center section is not painted at all, it's bare cast iron.

Ended up getting a nason single stage gloss black fast dry. Should be able to use it on the seat brackets, torsion bars, and leaf springs. Did t/a’s have black leaf springs or natural. Thanks for the help

Leafs can be either way. You have to take yours apart to see what evidence you can find.

BTW - are you keeping the 450s on the car? (I hope so)
