I have a 75 440, and according to 440 source the later 70s 440s have different cooling passages at the heads. Would this affect the heads i can get for it? Or the gasket? Since theyre the figure eight passages, would they still fit with any heads? Im thinking about getting the performer rpm heads.

I put a set of 440 Source Aluminum heads on a 1976 motorhome 440 block, no problems I saw shruggy
I put another used set on a 1972 413 truck block that had the weird special truck industrial heads and no evident problems with them either up
I'm hoping to run both of those motors on a engine run in stand next week to break in the cams so I should know more about the results next week luck work

The only problems I have had is with two different motor home blocks with the extra steam holes. They need to be mated with the heads with the same holes. They trap air or something. Like to have never figured it out. Alum heads might cure the problem, though. I’ve got one to show the extra holes but this site is not friendly to my iPhone pictures.

And to the best of my knowledge you are the only one who has observed this problem.

Coolant flow up into the heads is controlled by the holes cut in the head gasket, which are usually smaller than the holes in the block or heads.
