If you're looking for a nit-pick or a con... The only real annoyance with the car is that the electronic a/c system, with all it's eleventy motors moving in the dash and what-not, takes 30 seconds to a minute to come on after the car is running. It works great once it comes on. That's the one computerized part of the car that makes me think a regular old switch and vacuum actuators can't be beat.
I work for a company that builds test equipment for the HVAC assemblies. These things are all ticking time bombs just looking for failure. The motors for the actuators are cheapo plastic geared assemblies that will be an absolute nightmare to get to when (not if) they fail. I think the worst assembly we tested has 18 integrated actuators. Still remember my old Duster...crawling up under the dash and manually sliding the levers and things would still work. These....not going to happen

I can totally believe this. My 2014 Chrysler 300 has HVAC issues that started almost immediately after buying the car 2 years old & with 22,000 miles on it. Happens with the heater - sometimes I'll ask for heat (obviously in cold weather) & I'll be driving along with the engine fully warmed up, & notice it's blowing cold air. I turn the system off & on a few times, or shut the car off & re-start, then it will start blowing heat. All this high-tech stuff is like you say a ticking time bomb, as evidenced by backup camera malfunctions already talked about - two of our vehicles are already malfunctioning with these as well. When they go, I won't be taking them into the dealer for repair unless covered by warranty. The luxuries like these are on borrowed time.

And, to make matters even worse, they are not even 'just' motors. They are integrated with some form of communication protocol, some are LIN, some are CAN and most are controlled by either a central controller for the HVAC or by an ancillary control that the vehicle ECU talks to. I'm an engineer by trade and would LOVE to be able to buy a vehicle sans all of the high tech 'stuff' that will be the failure point. Manual crank windows, simplistic HVAC, etc. That is what I look for. My winter beater truck is an old Ford. Rubber floor, manual windows, no power locks. Just the way I like it. Oh...and it doesn't have launch control either..

Last time I was at 41 there was a kid there with an auto HC with just drag radials on it and probably a tune. He was knocking off 10:80's all night. Best part was I saw him put a spanking on a GT 500.

How did that speed at the drag strip compare to that internet report ? I really AM considering a HC Charger(it IS lighter than the Challenger?) .., but to think about paying 60k for an 1150 car ? ... I don't think so.

Unless you are talking used, It’s more like $65K and up when you include the sales tax! Several Hellcats reported mid to low 10’s with only minor mods and tires. Those are real world times and most of those cars are driven to the track. Not a lot of owners will race their cars but there’s no doubt about the potential.

Yes Sir .. Mid 10s is worthy ! .. But how much is that over and above stock ? Do those mods affect the real streetability ? I talked to a local dealer who has had THREE Demons ! .. And he inferred that a HC Charger that when driven EZ can get REAL WORLD 25 plus mpg.

I have only made one 1/4 mile pass in my 16 Scat Pack Challenger. Car does have a tune and I had Nitto 555r tires on the factory rim at 20 psi. Launched the car of idle went 1.73 60ft, 11.95 ET at 115.85 mph. Also I've never weighed the car but I'm sure it's around 4500lbs, as I'm 260 with 1/2 tank of fuel.

This was at the Mopar show a few weeks ago at Virginia Motor Sports Park. I believe D/A was around 2000ft in the mid afternoon. I was just entered in the test and tune and would have loved to make more passes but they were moving cars through so slowly that day.

I love the car and have some older Mopars that are faster than this but this car does so many things well.

It does not take much to put the Hellcats into the low 10's to high 9's. My friend owns a dyno tune shop in Chesepeake VA, DTP racing. He is constantly tuning on these cars. Not hard to get around 800 wheel hp out of them with a pulley change and some bigger injectors.

Old car. Best run around 13.60 @ 102 mph.

New car. 11.60 @ 124 so far. Still shakes or spins.

I really wanted to build a Superbird clone but don't have the time or ambition. Still would have the same amount in it. Love the performance and comfort. The 10's are coming for this car but I'm not rushing it.

My son has a 2016 Scatpack Charger. Awesome car with more power than the average driver needs. My boss has a HC Charger that we tweaked a bit. Gets 25 mpg on the highway comfortably and has the power fun factor when needed. He also has two Demons and a Trackhawk. I haven't had a chance to drive them but a ride in the Trackhawk is something everybody should do. In the grand scheme of things, these modern musclecars are priced about like any other new ride. Seems like everything is mid 40's to 80's anymore.

Had a 15 Challenger Scatpack stick and it was good but the 8 speed in my Scatpack Charger is awesome. This car is going to get me a ticket or arrested if I don't watch my speed.

I bought a 2016 Scat Pack Charger in July. Ive put about 6k miles on it so far. It Is an awesome car! It is my daily driver so I opted to stay away from the SRTs and Hellcats. Drove it to the Nats and got 28.6 mpg in Eco mode enabled by a Tazer. Gets 24 mpg running back and forth to work (40 miles each way). The 2002 Escape I was driving only got 18mpg and nowhere near as cool.

I am happy with my daily driven 2012 R/T Classic Challenger, so I know you guys with Scat Pak or Hellcats have got to be even more happy..... I would have a Hellcat myself if I could afford one. I enjoy my old school muscle too much though.

Good to see an RT post ... I've been chatting with a couple of people who have brought up that option ... Especially the ability of being able to use regular gas !
