I bought a hero 4 a few years back. The hero5 was already out. I didn’t need the features of the 5, and it was much more expensive. Ended up buying the 4 from the manufacturer as a fefurbished model. Came in original package and had no visible flaws or functional issues. The refurbished model was $100 less than a new hero 4. The editing software is nice.. and free. I bought an accessory kit, and extra batteries from Amazon. Spare batteries are nice to have, but the camera is pretty good about conserving the batteries. Really don’t need to charge them often. The 4 does have Bluetooth link if you need to mount the camera under the car and turn it on remotely.

what model/accessories are useful for hanging underneath to watch the suspension and driveshaft? My Fury has bad vibrations that maybe seeing could help.

I bought one with a Bluetooth so I could watch the videos on my cell phone, I gave up, went back to my old Hero. Keep it simple... It's my data recorder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za6nKenUCYs

I bought an Akaso V50 Pro. I am happy with the results and the price. Video at 4K is a little choppy because its on 30FPS at 4K but 1080p is nice and smooth and clear. 1080p records at 60FPS Just to be clear I do not have a GoPro to compare it to. I am pretty sure the GoPro may be better but do not know that to be a fact. You can google the Akaso V50 Pro and look at reviews on youtube. That helped me make up my mind. That and the price! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CKV9FRX/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hero5 Black. Stock up on extra batteries, and invest in quite a few different mounts. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gHitGWranKwI like the Bluetooth capability. I can easily turn the camera on and off with a simple touch of my phone. Plenty of apps for editing, and easy to download.

Hi Dom. I use a Hero 4 with a better aftermarket aluminum mount, with a remote to start it. But I do not use it all the time, I find it can be a bit of a distraction for me.

The editing software has a direct link to upload to youtube.(and other destinations) The software is pretty straightforward. One thing that is annoying about the gopro style cameras, is raw unedited video has a distorted fisheye look. The software has a correction feature for this, but you must set it up. Since the lens actually causes the effect, the software has to “fake” the video image into a smaller scaled, but still high quality image. A refurbished hero5 is around $220 now direct from gopro.

Hi Dom. I use a Hero 4 with a better aftermarket aluminum mount, with a remote to start it. But I do not use it all the time, I find it can be a bit of a distraction for me. That’s probably why I’ve never used my Hero3+... If/when it goes in the car I’ll have somebody else turn it on with my phone. Got it through an awards program at work and I’ve never used it.
